About David Carry

tSUBO is the studio of David Carry, a multi-disciplinary design and communications consultant; with expertise in graphic design, design strategy, creative direction, information architecture, and experience design.

Graduating with Honours in Design Communication and Time Based Media in 1993, David Carry has since gained a breadth of creative and management experience in the UK’s capital. He has been responsible in the founding of two leading digital design agencies operating from London’s West End, delivering solutions for a range of top international brands.

The Birth of New Media
David’s first venture, ‘mu digital ltd’ (1994-1996), specialised in animation, film and video production whilst developing concepts for the emerging interactive marketplace. The ‘mu-style’ was combination of visual effects, graphics, and three-dimensional animation combined with traditional techniques. This collaboration saw David produce some pioneering interactive CDROMs and websites for the entertainment industry, including “Zion Train’s - Homegrown Fantasy” and “Kylie Minogue’s Virtual Pentouse”.

Growth of an Industry

Co-founder of ‘Channel A Ltd’ (1996-2001), conceived in response the growing interactive and online marketplace. Channel A was positioned specifically to explore the strategic use of interactive technology for business and commerce. During its prolific six year life span as one of Soho’s leading interactive design and development houses, David’s position Creative Director and Information Architect, building a team of twenty designers and developers, saw him produce and direct numerous large scale projects for clients such as Walt Disney, The BBC, Warner Bros, Centerparcs, and Discovery Networks International.

During this time David developed numerous methodologies for interactive training & learning, e-commerce, online marketing, digital broadcasting and entertainment, setting many of the standards by which the these platforms are utilised today. His experience includes an in-depth understanding of the various complexities surrounding multi-lingual user interface, usability, digital standards, accessibility and complex information architecture.

Maturity

In 2001, David spent two years developing his understanding of museum and exhibition design, culminating in his first independent museum commission in 2003 for the Bank of England Museum.

Re-Birth

In 2004 David launched his first independent venture ‘tSUBO’, with a broad vision - “to explore the way people interact with and perceive media . . .”, providing a platform to fully explore his passion as a multi-disciplinary creative.

Currently exploring digital concepts physical space, he is working on various architectural, exhibition and museum design projects, whilst continuing to develop the ‘artecoop‘ - an international platform for cooperation in the fields of cultural exchange, sustainable development and environmental protection.

David is a diverse designer, with a diverse portfolio, and a deep understanding of the way people interact with and perceive media. Combined with considerable visual, technical, and production expertise, David offers a unique combination of competencies that can be effectively applied in response to a broad spectrum of conceptual and commercial requirements.
